Retired Teacher Launches 4th Book

Showers of dried peas in the classroom, UFO’s, a minister’s embarrassing experience at a drive-through bank window, a lost mate, centrifugal force in the high school shop, and a black bear birthday guest are just a few of the focal points in the 50 true tales in Heather’s latest book “Sunny Side Up”.

Heather retired from teaching in 1995 and has been actively pursuing her writing passion ever since. Her first book “The Show Must Go On”, focusing mainly on her parents and her early life in Coe Hill, Ontario, was released in 2003. That was closely followed in 2004 by her collection of true tales entitled “Dear Hearts and Gentle People”. Then in 2008, as her readers asked for more, “Because You Asked”, another collection of true tales, was published.

Heather is a member of the Canadian Authors Association, as well as chairing “The Henscratchers”, a writers’ group in the Whitewater area. She also writes a weekly column for the Bancroft Times entitled “Heather’s Musings”.

If you don’t find her at her writing desk, she may be at her cottage on the Ottawa or practising the choir at Trinity United Church in Foresters Falls where she is the organist or at Country Haven helping with the craft group known as “Molly’s Gang”.  Much time this past year was also devoted to co-editing with Grace Stephen the book “Beachburg – A Rich Heritage”, released on July 24th with the profits going to Beachburg Agricultural Society.
